As I sat in the prayer room this morning, it occurred to me that God loves all our expressions of love for that which He loves! What is it that God loves? By reading the Bible, we know that God loves… integrity (1 Chronicles 29:17, Titus 2:7), love (1 John 4:8, Psalms 103:8), truth (John 18:37), redemption (Revelation 21:5), generosity (Isaiah 55:1), teaching (Proverbs 2:6), servitude (Mark 10:42-45), defending (Deuteronomy 10:18, Psalm 116:6). These are some of the things God does and loves. And when we express a love for what God loves, I would submit to you, that is worship. The one who loves to be generous, loves to defend the helpless, or loves to serve is loving something that God loves. This may be an excellent way to explain worship to your unbelieving friends. We worship God by loving what he loves.
“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” ~John 4:24
