Luke 6:40 niv “A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.” This sentence holds the essence of discipleship. The heart of discipleship is to take people and help them learn how to live like Jesus. But what, then, was the Teacher like? I feel that the antecedent teachings of Jesus show us a brief of his character. The Teacher was not a hypocrite; he would never ask us to do something that he himself would never do. Jesus made the statement that, “A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher,” after a series of teachings on how to live life. It is fair to say that Jesus… Luke 6:27-36. Loved and blessed those who hated and cursed him, Luke 6:37. Forgave and did not judge or condemn (see John 3:17, 8:15-16), Luke 6:43-45. Bore good fruit and brought good things out of the good stored up in his heart. The student of Jesus must do the same things the Teacher did. Discipleship is simple, just do what you saw Jesus doing. There is no secret formula beyond this.
