We each have experienced the valleys. We each have been stabbed with hurt. We each have been enclosed by shadows. We each have felt like we have been left alone. Our prayers seem to either bounce off the sky or are just thrown into an empty void. We think no one else has been where we have been before. No one in the world has been so broken in their lives. But… Have you ever thought about the way that shadows are created? By light! Yes, shadows simply mean that a light is present and it is shining behind, before, and around us. Yes, it’s difficult going through pain, but we always tend to look more at the shadows rather than the Light that is behind them. It may feel like you’re walking through hell, but our God is greater than that. His “love is stronger than death” (Song of Solomon 8:6). Jesus overcame all of this on the cross, and He has made you an over-comer as well.
“Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” –1Corinthians 15:54b, 55Through the valley, through the pain, through the shadows- the light of Jesus Christ surrounds you. He is a “lamp to [your] feet and a light to [your] path” (Psalm 119:105). He is your “fire by night” (Exodus 13:21). The Father is always with you. He is constantly holding onto you.
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.” –Psalm 23:4 “The people who have walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelled in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined.” –Isaiah 9:2
