“The staff here is amazing. They pour into us in so many different ways, and it is evident of how much they care for us. We wanted to appreciate the staff in a new way. By creating this event, it was a way for us to show the staff how much they are valued and appreciated; how much of an impact they have in our lives.” – Mckenna K, BGU Student Government Secretary.
For weeks, students planned, readied, and rehearsed for what would come to be known as the missionary school’s first ever, “Staff Appreciation”. Year after year, and term after term, staff have gone out of their way to showcase to students how much they are appreciated and cherished through the Bethany Global University (BGU) event known as, “Student Appreciation”. This year, the BGU 2016 freshmen, sophomores, and seniors, decided to take matters into their own hands and pioneer a new tradition. They volunteered their free time, skills, and talents to organize their own event to show the staff how much they are valued and treasured by each student in our community.
“The staff puts so much into Student Appreciation for us, that we wanted to be able to give them the same level of commitment and appreciation that they put in for us. You could see the smiles on their faces, you heard them laughing, and you just knew that they were having a great time. It made all the hard work worth it.” – Chris M, BGU Student.
Staff Appreciation was a beautiful success. It was a chance to thank the staff for their beautiful hearts, remarkable personalities, and hard work. It was a time for students to display a Christ-like innovation, as they discovered new ways to love one another as Christ loved us, and to walk with the servant hearts that Christ has called us to.
“I was really touched by the thoughtfulness and effort our students put into Staff Appreciation. It was completely unexpected and such a nice surprise! I think all of the staff went away truly feeling loved and it was confirmed again that we have an amazing student body at BGU!” – Lori B, BGU Staff.
As a student myself, I would like to thank the staff for everything they have done in my life. Thank you for helping me grow over the last two terms, thank you for taking time to sit down with me and listen when I have needed to share my heart about what the Lord has been doing in my life, and thank you for pouring out the wisdom from your hearts, allowing the Lord to use you as tools to continue growing me in new ways. You are truly a blessing to all of us.
Lastly, thank you to all the students who put hard work into this incredible event. Thank you for offering up your free time even though you were not required to, and thank you for contributing your wonderful skills and talents to help this event come together. Thank you to the BGU Student Government for taking the time and patience to plan out this event, and gather the students together for this delightful display of Christ-like love.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” – John 13:34.
